Supply of intake gates

For the construction of the Arrow Lake Generating station, owned by Columbia Power Corporation and the Columbia Basin Trust, Peter Kiewit sons Co. Ltd secured the services of HMI for the design, supply, delivery, erection supervision and start-up of the trashracks, intake gates, hydraulic hoists, lifting beams and structure supports as well as for the supply of draft tube stoplogs and embedded parts.

Interchangeable

An important requirement for the project was to provide a design that allowed for interchangeability between the intake gates and draft tube gates.

The challenge

  • Design, supply and supervise the installation of the intakes and draft tube gates in British-Columbia.
  • Develop a design allowing for interchangeability between the intake gates and draft tube gates.

The result

  • Design and supply of 6 gates, interchangeable as intake or draftube.
  • Improved installation time / supervision of gates and embedded parts.
  • Testing and commissioning completed on time and on budget.
