Rehabilitation of all the gates at the Generating Station

HMI has been active since 1995 on the rehabilitation of the intake gates and hoists, as well as the draftube gates of the Beauharnois hydroelectric station.

Project realized from 1995 to 2017

HMI is currently working under the fifth and final phase of this strategic rehabilitation project and the present mandate should be completed at the end of 2017.

The challenge

  • Modernize an aging hydroelectric facility by replacing all intake gates and hoists, embedded guides without disruption of service to the client's utilities as well as rehabilitate all draft tubes gates through under water work equipment.

The result

  • Replaced equipment, gates and hoists for turbine intake and draft tubes.
  • Once completed, 144 gates and related equipment would have been rehabilitated.
