Feasibility study on rehabilitation of hoists

During the summer of 2013, HMI was appointed by BC Hydro for the realization of a definition phase study for the upgrade of the spillway gate hoists of the Gordon M. Shrum hydroelectric generating station.

Modernisation of lifting devices

This station is located approximately 100 km West of Fort St-John, BC. This study is an integral part of the global rehabilitation project of the power plant which is spread out until 2015.

The challenge

  • Define and establish all the rehabilitation parameters with BC Hydro and its engineers under a collaborative approach.
  • Develop the mechanical and electrical rehabilitation plan under strict operating restrictions.

The result

  • Definition phase and estimating process completed in time and on budget.
  • Work plan developed with all operating orders requirements.
