Rehabilitation of all the gates at the Generating Station

HMI was active from 1995 to 2017 on the rehabilitation of the intake gates and hoists, as well as the draftube gates of the Beauharnois hydroelectric station.

Project realized from 1995 to 2017

HMI has been working under the fifth and final phase of this strategic rehabilitation project and this last mandate was completed at the end of 2017.

The challenge

  • Modernize an aging hydroelectric facility by replacing all intake gates and hoists, embedded guides without disruption of service to the client's utilities as well as rehabilitate all draft tubes gates through under water work equipment.

The result

  • Replaced equipment, gates and hoists for turbine intake and draft tubes.
  • 144 gates and related equipment have been rehabilitated.
